Privacy Policy
AI Chat Export is a privacy-first browser extension for exporting selected ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini conversations to local files or syncing them, at your direction, to a Notion workspace or local Obsidian Vault. We keep file conversion work in the browser and limit account and payment data to what is needed for login and Pro access.
Data we process
When you choose to export or sync, the extension reads only the conversations you select. Depending on your settings, processed content may include messages, AI replies, code blocks, tables, images, page title, original URL, platform name, and export time.
When you sign in or purchase Pro, we process account email, user ID, login session data, subscription status, plan type, transaction state returned by the payment provider, and minimal technical logs needed to keep access working.
Local generation
- PDF, Word, Markdown, HTML, image, text, and JSON files are generated in your browser.
- Chat message bodies are not sent to ChatVault servers, Supabase, Paddle, or a remote conversion service for file generation.
- We do not send AI platform cookies or access tokens to ChatVault, Supabase, Paddle, or Notion.
- Images may be fetched from the original AI platform or its image CDN so they can appear in the exported file.
Notion and Obsidian sync
- Notion sync occurs only after you connect a Notion workspace and explicitly choose content to sync. The selected conversation and included images are sent over HTTPS to Notion so they can be written to that workspace.
- Notion processes synced content under its own terms and privacy policy. ChatVault, Supabase, and Paddle do not receive the chat bodies being synced.
- Obsidian sync writes Markdown and assets to the local Vault you select. It does not upload chat bodies to ChatVault servers.
- You can disconnect Notion or stop using either sync destination at any time.
Local storage
The extension may store export preferences, theme settings, daily free-limit counters, login state cache, and local error state in your browser. This helps the export workflow stay stable without giving us access to chat bodies.
Accounts, subscriptions, and payments
Pro access is verified through account and payment services. Payments may be processed by Paddle or another payment provider. We do not store card numbers or complete payment credentials. We keep the minimum subscription records needed to sync Pro access to the extension.
Anonymous product analytics and logs
Anonymous product analytics is enabled by default and clearly disclosed during onboarding. You can turn it off at any time in the extension settings. When enabled, we use a random guest identifier and record limited product events such as installation, extension version, language, platform, export format, sync destination, success or failure, error category, and review-prompt actions. We do not record chat bodies, prompts, AI replies, conversation titles, full URLs, filenames, file contents, workspace names, access tokens, or payment details.
Analytics and operational log records are designed to be retained for up to 30 days. Once the retention job is enabled in the production environment, records older than 30 days are automatically deleted. Turning analytics off immediately stops new events and clears unsent local analytics events. Export and sync features continue to work when analytics is disabled.
Data sharing
We do not sell user data. We may share necessary account and operational data with infrastructure, authentication, payment, and email service providers only to operate the service. Selected conversation content is shared with Notion only when you explicitly request Notion sync.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
AI Chat Export's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Deletion and account requests
You can contact [email protected] to request account data deletion, subscription lookup, or privacy support. Browser-local preferences and counters can be removed by uninstalling the extension or clearing extension data.
Children's privacy
AI Chat Export is not directed to children. If you believe we accidentally collected personal information from a child, contact us so we can remove it.
Policy updates
We may update this policy as the product, laws, or compliance requirements change. Important changes will be noted on the website or inside the extension. Continued use of AI Chat Export means you accept the updated policy.
